Apple’s new “Stolen Device Protection” feature is an awesome security update but raises the importance of having a current iCloud backup (or backup of choice in the digital sky). If you are getting a repair done on an iPhone that has this feature enabled, you will need to make sure it is disabled prior to bringing it in (which requires biometric scans and an hour reset period). This feature is required to be disabled for any phone repair. If it cannot be turned off from the phone, it will have to be erased before a repair can proceed.
