The design matches the current form factor of Apple’s current line of keyboards which included both wired and wireless models. The surface is smooth and is similar to the trackpads in Apple’s current line of laptops. The device needs to sit on a flat surface and is angled slightly to match the keyboard angle. Pressing down on the trackpad is the same as clicking a mouse.

The best part of the trackpad is the support for multitouch input and gestures to Apple’s desktop machines. This includes two-finger scroll, rotation, pinch-to-zoom, swipe-to-navigate, four-finger swipe for Exposé and app switching. These functions can be modified under the Trackpad preference in the System Preferences. Apple has added video examples in the System Preferences’ panel to demonstrate each function. The device is very precise.

We have tried the trackpad out for several weeks. Even though we had our Apple wireless mouse on standby, we never needed it. The trackpad did everything we wanted it to do, and more!

Snap
Simply by dragging the borders of a window to the edge of the screen you can expand the window vertically or position them side by side. This is a great way to organize windows quickly.

Live Taskbar Previews
For the open applications in the Task Bar, Windows 7 shows the actual live image of that open document as a thumbnail when you hover over the item with the mouse.

HomeGroup
HomeGroup takes the headache out of sharing files, devices, and printers on a home network with two or more PCs.

Pin
Organizes programs and files that are accessed frequently for quick access and provides more control over the Task Bar.

Windows Search
This is a further enhancement to the system’s Instant Search function which now provides a higher level of relevance with the results and visual treatment of the results.

Jump Lists
Jump Lists take you right to the documents, pictures, songs, or websites you use most through a menu accessed via the Task Bar.

Windows Live Essentials
This is a collection of free software that provides additional functionality including Instant Chat, Photo Gallery, Mail, Web Publishing Tool, Movie Editing, Family Safety and an additional Toolbar.

Windows Media Center
This is an entirely separate interface available from within the Windows 7 system. It provides a simple, easy to navigate method for accessing your broadcast or cable TV, browse photos, listen to music, play DVDs, check sports scores, play games and more. You can even pause and record live TV in HD!

Internet TV
Instant access to media content that is available on the Internet. You can choose from a variety of TV shows and movies organized with an interface that has consistent look and feel.

Available Networks
This is a great feature for users that switch networks or are on the go a lot. You now have one click access to available networks regardless if they are Wi-fi, mobile broadband, dial-up or your corporate VPN.

I.T. Worx new location on Battleground Ave

Well, we’re doing it! For years now we’ve thrown around the idea of opening up a retail location for I.T. Worx. As an Apple certified reseller and service provider, a retail location has made perfect sense for us all along.

So now timing, market conditions and our desire to better service our clients, have all come together to compel us to move forward with our vision. The new I.T. Worx will be a place where customers can have hands-on time with the latest Mac and PC systems.
The focus of the store will be Apple’s “lifestyle” products. As an organization I.T. Worx core focus will continue to be providing expert tech support and computer services. Opening this store will give us the opportunity to offer a new dimension of service to existing and future customers.

We will  be opening our doors the week of November 23rd.

For some time now we have been keeping an eye on the development of social media (blogging, twitter, facebook, etc.) As a tool to better stay in contact with,  and engage with our valued customers. So now we are excited to move forward with our own social media efforts and launch this blog, along with a facebook page and a twitter account.

One of the great things about social media is that unlike traditional media, there exists a two way street, which involves not only talking, but also listening.
